The Medal of Honor    

The Medal of Honor is the United States' highest aware for military valor. This prestigious honor is awarded only to individuals who have "distinguished themselves conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of their lives, above and beyond the call of duty." The Medal of Honr for the U.S. Army was established in 1862; 3,465 Medal of Honor medals have been awared to 3,446 soldiers, 618 posthumously.

There are fifty-two recipients who were serving with the U.S. Army Medical Department (AMEDD). The Army Medical Department Museum Foundation wishes to recognize these individuals with the AMEDD Medal of Honor Walk. Monument stations will be erected for each of the following wars: Cival War, Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, Phillipine Insurrection, World War I, World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War.
