On 3 May 2019, the Foundation Board celebrated the 2018 Neel Award winner at a ceremony in conjunction with the Quarterly Board meeting.  Vanessa M. Schulman won the prize for her essay entitled “J. J. Woodward, the Philadelphia Centennial, and Medical Imaging in Nineteenth Century America.”  Board Chairman, Dan Perugini, made the award presentation on behalf of  the Foundation.  In addition to the plaque, the award includes a $1000 prize and the article will be published in an upcoming issue of the AMEDD Journal.
