The Museum recently opened a new exhibit highlighting a 1943 Harley Davidson SLA motorcycle that was used by the US Army in various roles in World War II. The exhibit’s setting is Caratan, France on 13 June, 1944 during the Battle of Bloody Gulch after the Allied invasion of Normandy. On 3 May 2019, the Foundation bade a fond farewell to Grant Writer, Samantha Popejoy at the Quarterly Board meeting. Beginning her work at the Museum as a Graduate Intern in Museum Science, Samantha quickly made herself at home getting to know the staff and the Museum. On 3 May 2019, the Foundation Board celebrated the 2018 Neel Award winner at a ceremony in conjunction with the Quarterly Board meeting. Vanessa M. Schulman won the prize for her essay entitled “J. J. Woodward, the Philadelphia Centennial, and Medical Imaging in Nineteenth Century America.” Board Chairman, Dan Perugini, made the award presentation on behalf of the Foundation. The recent passing of COL(Ret) Basil Pruitt, Jr and COL (Ret) Beth LaNoue inspired the AMEDD Museum Foundation executive committee to establish memorial funds in honor of them both.
